Price a tiling job

Estimate labour, materials, preparation and optional extras using your own charges.

Work out tile quantities first

Your tiling job

Enter your customer charges. Preparation and removal are additional charges, so avoid also including them in the base labour.

Only the selected labour basis is charged. Changing between hours and area clears the rate so you can enter the matching charge.

For customer-supplied materials, keep the material charge at zero. Use the material order tool to work out quantities first.

How to price a tiling job

Combine laying labour and customer material charges with the site work that the job needs. Use your own rates and confirmed scope.

  1. Use the tile order calculator to estimate whole boxes, allowing for cuts and the supplier box count. Its handoff carries boxes into the job estimate.
  2. Choose hourly labour or measured-area pricing and enter the corresponding rate.
  3. Enter tile ordering units and the customer charge per unit.
  4. Add surface preparation, removal and disposal, adhesive, grout, access and travel as appropriate. Do not duplicate charges already included in the base rate.
  5. Review currency and tax, then copy or print. Signed-in businesses can save the calculation to a customer record or prepare a draft quote.

Tips and common mistakes

  • Confirm substrate condition, layout and material specification on site.
  • Check adhesive and grout coverage against the product labels.
  • Compare alternative scopes or combine separately priced tasks using the workspace below.

Questions

Does the estimate include waterproofing automatically?

No. Identify the required scope and price any additional work deliberately. This tool makes no compliance assessment.

Can the customer supply tiles?

Yes. Keep the tile material charge at zero and price the labour and other supplied materials separately.

Does an area rate convert when I change units?

Choose Convert when changing measurements. The area and its corresponding rate convert together. Review any rounding before using the estimate.

How do I avoid counting preparation twice?

Confirm what your base labour rate covers. Add separate preparation, disposal, adhesive or grout charges only for items that are outside that base scope.
