How to price an air conditioner service

An air conditioner service is often priced per system, with extra charges for filters, deep cleaning and any work beyond the standard service. A clear standard service price makes quoting quick and fair. This calculator adds up one or more systems for a one-off visit or a service plan with several visits a year.

  1. Choose the system type and enter how many systems you are servicing.
  2. Set your standard service price per system, including normal labour.
  3. For a service plan, enter the number of visits a year. Leave it at 0 for a one-off service.
  4. Add filters and deep cleaning per system only if they are outside your standard service, and a callout fee only if it is not already in your service price.
  5. If the job needs time beyond the standard service, enter the extra labour hours and your hourly rate. Add difficult access or after-hours charges if needed.
  6. Set your materials markup and tax rate, choose whether prices show before or including tax, and check the totals.

Tips and common mistakes

  • Write down what your standard service includes, so customers know what they are paying for and what costs extra.
  • Do not add the callout fee or deep clean twice if they are already in your service price.
  • If you find a fault, quote the repair separately rather than adding it to the service. Any work on refrigerant must be done by appropriately licensed people where the law requires it.
  • Price service plan visits so each one still covers your travel and time.

Questions

How much does an air conditioner service cost?

It depends on the number and type of systems, what your standard service includes, and whether filters, deep cleaning or extra time are needed. Access and after-hours work add to the price. Use the calculator with your own service price and rates.

How often should an air conditioner be serviced?

It depends on the system, how much it is used and the environment, such as dust or salty coastal air. Follow the manufacturer's guidance and any rules where you work. Offering a service plan with regular visits helps customers keep on top of it.

What is included in an air conditioner service?

That is up to you, but customers expect a clear list. A standard service often covers checking and cleaning filters, checking the coils and drain, and testing how the system runs. Deep cleaning and filter replacement are often charged separately.

Should I charge per unit for air conditioner servicing?

Pricing per system is simple and scales well for homes or sites with several units. Make sure the per-system price covers your travel and setup, or add a callout fee separately. Enter the number of systems and your price per system to see the total.

How do I price an air conditioning service plan?

Start with the price of one visit for all the customer's systems, then think about how many visits a year they need. Enter the visits a year in the calculator to price the plan. Make sure each visit still covers your time and travel.
